Lighthouse Bagging in Fife
Lighthouse bagging, or pharology, is a hobby where people travel around the country to catch a glimpse of the lighthouses dotted around the coast. This can take you to some of the most gorgeous landscapes in Scotland, including our very own North Queensferry. Here you’ll see the world’s smallest working lighthouse, the only remaining oil-lit light tower in the world.
Become a Keeper of the Light
North Queensferry Heritage Trust, who maintain the lighthouse, can help you to become part of history. With their help, you can light the oil lamp that powers the lighthouse, and receive a Certificate of Competence that will name you as an Honorary Keeper of the Light. This special experience is free of charge, with a suggested donation of £20.

Scotland’s Smallest Museum
The smallest museum in Scotland is right here in Fife, just a short distance from Dunfermline. The Forth Bridges Lighthouse Museum has a collection of information about the history of the lighthouse, the Queensferry Piers, and the world-famous Forth Bridge.

More Things to Do in North Queensferry
After you’ve visited the world’s smallest working lighthouse, why not take a trip on a ferry over to the beautiful Inchcolm Island to visit the Abbey? If you haven’t had enough lighthouse-bagging, head down to nearby Burntisland to see the lighthouse on the west pier, established in 1879 and still in operation today.
