Come to North Queensferry to see the world’s smallest working lighthouse, and Scotland’s smallest museum!
Lighthouse Bagging in Fife
Lighthouse bagging, or pharology, is a hobby where people travel around the country to catch a glimpse of the lighthouses dotted around the coast. This can take you to some of the most gorgeous landscapes in Scotland, including our very own North Queensferry. Here you’ll see the world’s smallest working lighthouse, the only remaining oil-lit light tower in the world.
Become a Keeper of the Light
North Queensferry Heritage Trust, who maintain the lighthouse, can help you to become part of history. With their help, you can light the oil lamp that powers the lighthouse, and receive a Certificate of Competence that will name you as an Honorary Keeper of the Light. This special experience is free of charge, with a suggested donation of £20.

Scotland’s Smallest Museum
The smallest museum in Scotland is right here in Fife, just a short distance from Dunfermline. The Forth Bridges Lighthouse Museum has a collection of information about the history of the lighthouse, the Queensferry Piers, and the world-famous Forth Bridge.
@welcome.to.dunfermline This hidden gem in North Queensferry offers a fascinating glimpse into history, built in 1817. Climb just 24 steps to its peak and enjoy breathtaking views of the Forth, including the iconic Forth Rail Bridge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Powered by vegetable oil, this light tower has been restored back to full working order and reopened to the public in June 2010, after 120 years of disuse. #ScottishHistory #ScottishFYP #ScotlandTravel #ScotlandHiddenGems #HistoricScotland #ScottishTreasures #ExploreScotland #VisitScotland #FYP #NorthQueensferry #ForthRailBirdge #Scotland #traveltok #welcometofife ♬ This is heaven – Nightshade
